I never thought I would be like one of those authors, sitting in front of a blank word document searching for the right words, well here I am. After a couple of disappointing days I think I finally have a breakthrough on what to recommend. If you are interested in fantasy like the Lord od the Rings, The Hobbit then these are some of my recommendations to you
This is one of the series that I hold quite close to my heart. This is not just an entertaining read, for my teen self, this series became an epitome of self-reflection. I grew up with the joy of reading, so most of my opinions and perceptions were shaped through novels, and The Inheritance Cycle was one of those that left a lasting mark.
At its core, this four-book fantasy series by Christopher Paolini is about adventure, discovery, and the bond between a young boy and a dragon. It follows Eragon, a seemingly ordinary farm boy whose life takes a sharp turn when he discovers a mysterious stone that changes everything. Alongside him is Saphira, his dragon companion – wise, fierce, and often the voice of calm reason when Eragon’s emotions run high. Their connection is not just magical, but also a bond that is human and beautiful in many other ways. Eragon finds himself pulled into a conflict far bigger than his small village – one that spans kingdoms, ancient rivalries, and secrets buried deep in history.
As Eragon learns about magic, heritage, and the weight of being a Dragon Rider, he is forced to grow faster than he imagined. Guided by wise mentors and supported by loyal friends, he travels through the vast lands of Algaesia filled with hidden dangers. Along the way, he faces ruthless enemies, battles that test his strength, and choices that shape both his destiny and the fate of those around him.
Throughout the series, Eragon’s journey becomes more than a fight between good and evil, it’s a coming of age tale. It’s about making choices, learning from failures, and finding strength in unexpected places. You will also fall in love with the most unlikely characters.
What makes The Inheritance Cycle so special to me is how it balances wonder with wisdom. As a fantasy lover, I was indeed captivated by the thrill of battles, soaring flights, and hidden magic. But rereading it I discovered that it was so much more than that. I realized how much of it was about self-discovery, resilience, and understanding one’s place in the bigger picture. It’s a story that grows with you.You can read it for the adventure, but you’ll stay for the lessons tucked between the pages.
If you enjoy epic fantasy filled with dragons, friendships that feel real, and journeys that are as much abou the heart as they are about the sword, this is a series you’ll want to pick up. Even without spoilers, I can promise you this, it’s a ride worth taking, and one that might just change the way you see yourself.
Mythology has been something that has always fascinated me as it introduced to different cultures and their enchanting lore. And the first time that I encountered Egyptian mythology was through The Kane Chronicles. This series was authored by Rick Riordan who is well known among the reading audience as the author of the bestselling series Percy Jackson. While Percy Jackson is well received among the readers, I found The Kane Chronicles to be an underrated gem.
The trilogy follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, who live very different lives. Carter travels the world with their father, while Sadie grows up in London with their grandparents. Their worlds collide when a family secret awakens powerful Egyptian gods, thrusting them into a dangerous conflict where ancient magic, gods, and monsters are suddenly very real.
What begins as a shocking night soon turns into a journey that spans continents, tombs, and temples. Carter and Sadie learn to navigate their magical heritage while uncovering secrets about their family’s past and their roles in an unfolding prophecy. Along the way, they face both terrifying threats and laugh-out-loud situations, with plenty of sibling banter to lighten the mood. This series took me ona n unforgettable ride not to forget how the romantic situations that had the teenage me squealing with delight!! 😉
This is such an underrated gem that I happened across in my teen years and is undoubtedly one of my favourites up to this date. There are not a lot of contemporary Indian Mythology books out there but this one was quite the read, based on the Indian Mythology of “Ramayana”.
This series is a compilation of three book. Each book more engaging than the next. It follows a geeky young boy Ashoka Mistry, who comes to an astonishing magical inheritance. Set in the holy city of Ganges Ganges, Varanasi. In this ancient city, what starts as a simple mystery around an eccentric millionaire Savage, quickly unfolds into a race against time involving forgotten legends, dangerous enemies, and secrets tied closely to Ash’s own identity. Thrown into a world where demons walk, ancient prophecies whisper, and danger lurks at every corner, Ash relies on his newfound powers, wit and the help of unexpected allies to face the odds.
The beauty of the series is that how naturally the mythology is woven into the narrative. The legend feels alive and I got to see a different version of my home, filled with tales, myths and legends around every corner.Â
